You Say India Isn’t Safe and the US Is Better? Look at This

We hear this every day in India – “girls are not safe here”, “the system is broken”, “the US is so much better, it’s safe there.”

Now look at this as well.

This case from Chautauqua County, New York. A 42-year-old man, Jose Perez. He uploaded a file to Dropbox. That one upload got flagged, and then Homeland Security Investigations, the Sheriff’s Office, everyone got involved. When they checked his phone, they found child pornography material, and he himself admitted that he had sexually abused and exploited a minor.

He got 78 months in federal prison and 30 years of supervised release. This is not a small local case, this is a federal case under Project Safe Childhood.

And this is the US – the country where they even check the bacteria level in beach water, where every upload is scanned, where there is a system for everything. Even there, small kids are not safe.

We should question India, we must, because we have serious problems here. But to think that the US is all clean and perfect is wrong.

There also, they have to run nationwide programs like Project Safe Childhood just to protect kids from predators. That means the problem is real there too.

Safety doesn’t have a country. Predators exist everywhere. The only difference is, there the system to catch them is a bit faster.

So next time you say “India is not safe, the US is better” – remember this case.
