What Is NEET UG?
NEET UG is the common entrance examination used for undergraduate medical education in India.
The official NEET website states that NEET UG is conducted as a common and uniform test for admission to undergraduate medical education in medical institutions across India. It also applies to undergraduate courses under the Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy, including BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BHMS. 1
NEET scores may also be used for courses and admission routes such as:

Who Conducts NEET UG?
NEET UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency, commonly called NTA.
The Ministry of Education established NTA as an independent, autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

The official NTA result press release states that close to 20 lakh candidates appeared in the 21 June examination and that 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programmes. NEET UG Eligibility

Courses and Admissions Through NEET UG
MBBS
NEET UG is the qualifying entrance examination for MBBS admissions in medical colleges across India, subject to the applicable counselling quota and eligibility requirements.
BDS
NEET scores are used for admission to Bachelor of Dental Surgery programmes.
AYUSH Courses
NEET UG is used for admission to several undergraduate Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy courses, including:

B.Sc. Nursing

Some Lesser-Known Facts About NEET UG
- NEET UG is conducted by NTA, but NTA does not conduct all counselling. MCC, AACCC and state authorities handle different admission quotas.
- NEET scores are used beyond MBBS. The examination also applies to BDS, AYUSH courses and certain nursing, veterinary and allied admissions.
