KEAM 2026: Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical — Exam, Courses, Eligibility, Pattern, Counselling & Contact Details

KEAM, commonly expanded as Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical, is the professional-course admission process conducted by the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala — CEE Kerala.

KEAM 2026 covers admissions related to engineering, architecture, pharmacy, medical and several allied professional courses in Kerala. However, it is important to understand that not every course under the KEAM admission system is selected through one common written examination. For 2026, the CEE entrance test was conducted mainly for Engineering and B.Pharm, while Architecture admissions use NATA and Medical/Medical Allied admissions use NEET-UG scores according to the applicable prospectus and notifications.

What Is KEAM?

KEAM is the admission framework used by CEE Kerala for professional degree courses in the state.

The official KEAM 2026 prospectus covers professional-degree admissions involving:

  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Pharmacy
  • Medical courses
  • Agriculture
  • Forestry
  • Veterinary science
  • Fisheries
  • Ayurveda
  • Homoeopathy
  • Siddha and Unani
  • Co-operation and Banking
  • Climate Change and Environmental Science
  • B.Tech Biotechnology and other notified programmes

The CEE website describes the admission system as covering engineering, architecture, MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, homoeopathy, Siddha, Unani, agriculture, forestry, veterinary, fisheries, pharmacy and other professional areas. 1

KEAM is not a university and does not itself award degrees. It is an examination, rank-list and counselling system managed by the Government of Kerala through CEE Kerala.

Who Conducts KEAM 2026?

KEAM 2026 is conducted by the:

Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala

The CEE Commissionerate was established in 1983 under the Government of Kerala. Its wider responsibilities include conducting entrance examinations, preparing rank lists and carrying out centralised allotments for professional undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

CEE Kerala also conducts or manages separate admission processes for courses such as law, medical postgraduate programmes, nursing, pharmacy and management.

KEAM 2026 Is an Umbrella Admission Process

A common misunderstanding is that KEAM is one identical examination for Engineering, Architecture, MBBS and all medical courses. The 2026 process is more accurately understood as a common state admission system with different qualifying routes.

Engineering

For engineering admissions, candidates appear for the CEE Kerala Computer-Based Test. The Engineering paper tests:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

B.Pharm

Candidates seeking admission to B.Pharm through the entrance examination appear for a separate Physics and Chemistry paper.

Architecture

Candidates seeking B.Arch. admission must meet the qualifying requirements and appear for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture — NATA, conducted by the Council of Architecture. The CEE notification specifically states that candidates seeking Architecture admission must qualify in NATA. 2

Medical and Medical Allied Courses

For MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda and other medical or medical-allied courses, admission-related processing is connected with NEET-UG 2026. Candidates must submit their NEET score and complete the CEE profile and document requirements within the notified deadline.

The CEE notification dated 10 August 2026 extended the last date for NEET-score submission to 11 August 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and profile-defect rectification to 13 August 2026 at 11:00 a.m. 3

  • One mark deducted for an incorrect answer
  • Three-hour duration, or 180 minutes

The 2026 pattern was reproduced by several education references from the CEE prospectus and examination notifications. Candidates should still consult the official prospectus for the exact instructions applicable to their paper. 4

B.Pharm Paper

The B.Pharm entrance paper consisted of:

The duration for the B.Pharm paper was 90 minutes. The marking principle was generally +4 marks for a correct response and –1 mark for an incorrect response.

KEAM 2026 Examination Dates

CEE Kerala’s official examination-date notification stated that the 2026 examination was conducted as a Computer-Based Test at selected centres.

Engineering

The official notice also listed the CEE office address, current email and main helpline numbers. 5

Some early Google-indexed news articles listed additional dates such as 13, 16, 24 and 25 April as buffer days. These should not be confused with the actual examination dates specified in the later official CEE examination-date notification.

Fees, categories and payment rules can change through government orders or subsequent notifications. The prospectus and current notification should always be treated as final.

Eligibility for KEAM-Linked Courses

Eligibility differs according to the selected course.

Engineering

In general, candidates applying for engineering need to have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with:

  • Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects
  • Chemistry or another permitted subject
  • The minimum prescribed marks in the relevant subjects

The prospectus provides separate provisions for SC, ST, SEBC and other eligible categories. Candidates should not apply the general percentage requirement mechanically without checking the category-specific rules.

Architecture

Architecture candidates must fulfil the academic requirements and qualify in NATA as prescribed by the Council of Architecture and CEE Kerala.

Medical and Allied Courses

Medical and medical-allied admissions generally require a valid NEET-UG 2026 result and submission of the NEET details through the CEE candidate portal.

Nativity and Reservation

The KEAM prospectus classifies candidates under categories such as:

  • Keralite
  • Non-Keralite Category I
  • Non-Keralite Category II

Reservation, nativity, community, income, EWS, NRI and other claims require the relevant certificates and documents. A candidate’s reservation claim may not be accepted if the required certificate is missing, invalid or uploaded after the permitted deadline.

KEAM 2026 Result and Rank List

CEE Kerala published the normalised entrance-examination scores for Engineering and Pharmacy candidates through the KEAM 2026 candidate portal on 12 May 2026.

The CEE notification explained that:

  • Candidates could log in through the KEAM 2026 Candidate Portal.
  • The result section displayed the normalised entrance score.
  • Scores were calculated after applying the prescribed correction and normalisation procedure.
  • Some scores could be withheld because of application defects or other pending issues.

For the Engineering rank list, CEE stated that equal weightage of 50:50 would be given to:

  1. The normalised Engineering entrance-examination score, and
  2. The standardised marks/grades obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the qualifying examination. 7

The entrance score and the final rank are therefore not necessarily the same thing.

KEAM 2026 Counselling and CAP

After the publication of rank lists and category lists, eligible candidates participate in the Centralised Allotment Process, generally called CAP.

The process usually involves:

  1. Logging in to the KEAM candidate portal
  2. Checking rank and eligibility
  3. Registering course and college options
  4. Participating in trial or provisional allotment, where applicable
  5. Checking the final allotment
  6. Paying the required fee
  7. Joining the allotted college before the deadline
  8. Confirming, rearranging or cancelling higher-order options according to the notification

Allotments depend on:

  • Rank
  • Course eligibility
  • Category and reservation
  • Candidate preferences
  • Seat availability
  • Government rules
  • Fee payment
  • Reporting within the specified deadline

Current KEAM 2026 status

As of 10 August 2026, the official CEE notification page displayed:

  • Third-phase Engineering allotment
  • Second-phase Architecture allotment
  • Second-phase Pharmacy allotment
  • NEET-score submission and medical/medical-allied defect rectification
  • Further candidate notifications and allotment instructions

The official notification page should be checked regularly because deadlines and allotment phases may change. 8

Some Lesser-Known Facts About KEAM

  1. KEAM is more than one examination. It is an umbrella admission process involving different qualifying examinations for different professional courses.
  2. The 2026 CBT was mainly for Engineering and Pharmacy. Architecture candidates used NATA, while medical and medical-allied candidates submitted NEET-UG details.
  3. KEAM Engineering rank is not based only on the entrance score. The Engineering rank list gives 50:50 weightage to the normalised entrance score and qualifying-examination marks in the prescribed subjects.
  4. CEE Kerala uses separate course portals. The KEAM portal, Pharmacy allotment pages, medical-allied pages and other CEE admission portals may have separate links under the same official domain.
  5. The examination moved to computer-based testing. Candidates should not rely on old KEAM preparation material that describes the examination only as an offline OMR test.
  6. The current office address differs from old Google listings. The older Housing Board Buildings address continues to appear in archived and third-party pages.
  7. An allotment is not the final step. Candidates must complete fee payment and college joining within the deadline mentioned in the allotment notification.
  8. The official website may display multiple academic-year processes simultaneously. Candidates should confirm the year, course and phase before making a payment or submitting options.
