Indresh Kumar was born on 18 February 1949 in Samana, Punjab. His family later shifted to Kaithal in Haryana, where he spent his formative years.

He completed his engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh. After finishing his education, he chose a path of full-time social and organisational work instead of a conventional career.

Association with RSS

Indresh Kumar joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time pracharak on 16 July 1970. Over the decades, he rose to become a senior member of the RSS National Executive (Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini).

He is widely known for his work in social harmony and outreach. In 2002, he played a key role in the formation of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an organisation aimed at engaging with the Muslim community and promoting national integration. He continues to serve as its Margdarshak (Guide).

He is also associated with the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch as its Chief Patron.
