Aizawl: Neonatal Resuscitation Program Day Observed at Zoram Medical College & Hospital

Aizawl, May 9, 2026 – The Department of Pediatrics in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMCH) observed ‘Neonatal Resuscitation Program Day’ today.

About the Programme

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is a flagship initiative of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) under the National Neonatology Forum (NNF). The day was observed to create awareness and provide hands-on training on neonatal resuscitation techniques to reduce infant mortality.

The training was attended by doctors, gynaecologists, medical officers, interns, and nurses. A total of 35 participants received practical training on newborn resuscitation procedures.

Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that proper neonatal resuscitation skills can significantly help bring down Mizoram’s infant mortality rate. The programme emphasised the importance of timely intervention during the “Golden Minute” — the first 60 seconds after birth.
